Our coffee
From Farm to Cup
“Every bag tells the story of the farmer who grew it.”
We buy on direct-trade relationships built over years, paying above market so growers can invest in their farms and their families. No anonymous lots — we know the hillside every bean came from.
Our focus is single-origin, with three seasonal origins in rotation at any time so the cup keeps changing through the year. Everything is roasted in small batches in East London and rested before it reaches your grinder.
Our story
Opened with One Machine and a Big Idea
Groundwork opened its doors in 2019, founded by Jamie Walsh — a former accountant who swapped spreadsheets for a single espresso machine and the café he'd always wished his own street had.
What started as one machine and a lot of nerve has grown into a neighbourhood fixture: a place to start the day, meet a friend, or settle in with a filter and a book. The idea hasn't changed — good coffee, made with care, for the people around it.
